Mine action is an everyday job!

It only takes a few minutes and a dozen dollars for a mine to cause irreparable damage, but months or even years to remove it. Help us to clear the ground of mines and explosive remnants of war which pose a threat to populations for decades, even after conflicts have ended.

Donate now and save lives

On 4 April 2024, International Mine Awareness Day is an opportunity to remember the tragic impact of mines and explosive remnants of war on the lives of thousands of people around the world.

Today, nearly one in three countries is contaminated by mines and explosive remnants of war.

When they do not kill, these remnants of war cause severe physical and psychological trauma. Survivors are affected not only physically, but also in their family, social and economic lives. Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria and Myanmar are among the countries with the highest number of landmine victims.

This International Mine Awareness Day we are also reminded that mines and explosive remnants of war do not only threaten human lives, but also have a serious impact on agriculture, education and the safety of the population.

Mine accidents are preventable: your donation can make a difference. By supporting our humanitarian demining operations, you are protecting human lives and enabling the deployment of humanitarian aid, the reconstruction of vital infrastructure, the resumption of agriculture and the return of displaced populations.

In 2023, FSD has cleared and secured 5,733,843 sqm and educated 234,850 people about the dangers of mines and explosive ordnance.

Each mine or item of unexploded ordnance cleared represents a potential life saved.

Your support enables us to intervene quickly and independently to clear the ground of these dangerous remnants of war and help vulnerable populations.

Beyond protecting human lives, humanitarian demining also enables the deployment of humanitarian aid, the reconstruction of vital infrastructure, the return of displaced populations and the resumption of schooling and agriculture.
